just for your info, just had 2 updates rolled out to a load of servers that seems to delete the automatic update service and stop BITS. I believe these 2 updates were urgent MSKB Updates to plug a hole in DNS to allow open access for DDos attacks.
to get the services back and running after installing the updates you will need to run this Fix IT application from microsoft.
