Re-Tiling Bath area

Post by queen_bee »

Hi

Am in the process of doing my bathroom and have decided to re-tile the area around my bath as I didn't like the tiles and they'd been put up very badly.

In taking the tiles off around the window it appears I have some problems and not really sure what to do next.

As you will see from teh pics some metal thing (not sure what it is even for) has rusted completely and is crumbling. Most of the plaster appears to be in good condition but in a few places it feels soft and slightly damp.

I was just going to remove the old adhesive and then put the new tiles.

Should I do anything to the wall before doing this?

Thanks.

It is only the plaster bead that has gone rusty and should be ok just to tile straight over the top
