Thought I'd post about where I got my Makita Radio, the BMR100.
It's £60 at Axminster and like £90 everywhere else.
Just waiting for DAB one to lower in price now...

These are great value for money but neither the makita nor hitachi one can charge your batteries.
When you switch the hitachi one on a little japanese accented voice says "wewcom to heetachee pawwa tooows"
When you switch it off she says " pweesented by heetachee pawwa toows" She great!

Makes me want to go and buy one and I don't even have any Hitachi tools

I've never had any AEG gear so I can't comment on their stuff, but it looks OK.

Just as a wee foot note; ITSLondon have extended their sale until Monday & there's some bargains. Anything I've bought from them has been great & their service is also very good.

i was gonna buy the makita radio. have no cordless gear but im gonna buy a makita cordless asap as my dewalt is making funny noises now lol. plus needs new batterys.

i hvae the aeg drill that was a competition prize on here aswell. so maybe could get a aeg radio.

when i was looking at a site radio early on last year because i had managed to smash a few of the ones i had in the past, i looked at several brands.

the dewalt one was probably the most well know site radio. very sturdy but lacked in quality of sound.
the bosh one was fairly good sound, way better than the dewalt but was like carrying a large car battery around in weight.
there was another one i listened too but can't remember the brand name.

having tried all 4 of them and also talking to people that had them, i went for the Makita one. i have actually dropped it by accident off my ladder and it works perfectly. the sound was also very good. one charged battery can last nearly two full days at about 8 hours/days use. the only grievance i have now is it isn't the digital one. you can pick these up for just under £60 now too and in my opinion, the sound quality is way better than the rivals.

digital radio aka dab isnt all its cracked up to be to be honest. most likely just as good going for a standard radio. my sister works in radio for the bbc as a journalist nd she told me dab just hasnt taken off like it was hoped it would.

i know that but i listen to Radio 2 most of the time which means it is fine on the one i have. i do a lot of the time flick stations when i get bored of some of the cr4p they put on. for instance, the moment they put abba on, i flick stations. i hate our local station because it is advert after advert and then they repeat each track every hour. radio 1 is toss but then my age determines which stations i listen to.

because of this i would listen to my school days era which is 80's. the trouble is, i can only get absolute 80's through digital which means i need a digital radio or have to put up with cr4p sound from a phone.

that is why i would swap to a digital one. if you lived close to me i would have sold you mine for a cheap price and got the digital version of it.

yea comercial radio is a bit annoying like. but i prefer it as it seems more of a laugh. when my sis left her sation they had her sent on massive wind ups on air and everything. quite amusing to listen too. she moved to bbc newcastle but i dont listen that often.

i guess having a dab would also be handy for the occasional time that the football is on digital (this used to happen last season up here with newcastle and sunderland.)

aye never mind mate. perhaps ill save and buy a digital one myself come to think of it.
