Bathroom Floor

Post by darossi »

I have been removing ceramic tiles from my bathroom floor. Some have come up easily than others, but some are very stubborn and are coming up in bits and pieces (using a hammer and chisel).

Some of the more stubborn tiles are bringing up chunks of the boards beneath with them (the boards look wooden but the chunks that come up look a green-ish colour inside). Any tips on getting the stubborn tiles up?

I did the same with my kitchen floor and the people that fitted a new vinyl floor there laid plywood to the floor before laying the vinyl.

Do I need to lay plywood over the bathroom floor before I put vinyl in there too? Or should I level it out with some other product?

It's taking an age and the tiles are leaving behind quite a lot of adhesive which I guess I will be going back and scraping up once the tiles have all been lifted.

Am I going about this the right way? I've been told that vinyl floors are fine for use in bathrooms but also read in a couple of places that they are not.

Any advice appreciated
