Maglite torches - lifetime warrantee.

Post by stevewestern »

We all know about Maglite torches, and many of us older ones will have owned one or two I guess.

Well, one of mine wasn't working, so I tried to replace the batteries, but one had leaked.
As I have always used Duracell I was a little pee'd off as they are not meant to leak - I tried to get out the leaky thing but couldn't.
2 minutes worth of googling told me that it was worth sending back to the UK distributors, so I did.

Now despite my torch being around 15 - 18 years old, and having been heavily used in all sorts of ways and showing the scars of such abuse I am the owner of a brand new Maglite. I am well chuffed.

Seems that Maglite and Duracell have some sort of deal as the batteries are not meant to leak, so don't chuck it out if yours no longer works until you have checked.

That is good to know :thumbright:

Many firms will jump through hoops not to replace an item that is guaranteed

Another of those items thats seems like a lot of money for what it is, but shouldn't need to buy another for a long time or even ever again. :thumbleft:

A dodgy Zippy I had broke so I sent it off to be repaired. They sent it back, still broken, saying it was a forgery and if I could tell them who sold it to me and they got a conviction I would get a free gold plated Zippo. I don't think "Some beach vendor somewhere in Bulgaria" cut the mustard because I never got the gold Zippo!

The battery thing is only with Duracells, but I assume the rest is covered - don't try to break it on my word please !
I have to say that before I sent mine off I tried all the tricks I could to get the leaking battery out and by the time it got posted off it was very battered..!

I am a lover of good tactical torches, Maglite are very good but I have a new one a NITECORE SRT 5B a very good flashlight at 750 lumens with Ultra High Intensity, this is why I got this one because of the powerful light.

Leatherman multitools are the same. They replaced mine for a brand new one that was 19 years old.
