Dewalt D23650 FAKE??

Ive recently bought a Dewalt D23650 Saw online (name withheld at the stage!) and when Ive received it, it seems very cheap compared to my other DeWalt tools, for a start the case is very flimsy and the word DeWalt is a different style to my other tool cases, it is a plastic insert as oppose to proud (from the surface) and moulded. Then when Ive compared the user manual to my other tools it is printed in grey, not black like my others.

The saw itself has a few rough edges on the plastic mouldings. Has anyone got a circular saw from DeWalt in a case to compare or heard of fake DeWalt tools??

Its a D23650 by the way!

I havnt got the saw to compare but i have just searched a popular online auction site and compared the D23650 with the same model on a popular tool site and there is a noticable difference one being the label is attached to the motor body on the tool site

however looking at the model numbers one says D23650K and the other d23650-GB maybe Uk v foriegn specs only £34 difference in price

The 'K' is the kit and comes in a case, the 'GB' means its warranty is valid in the UK, if it doesnt have GB it isnt valid!

Could be a fake!

I have heard of lots of fake Dewalt and Milwaukee being sold on ebay that are made in China.

But REAL DeWalt are made in China too, I phoned DeWalt to ask as it states on the label 'made in PRC'

Im going to take them into a DeWalt repair centre and have them look at it! It is a BIG company that is selling them!

Also discovered recently, when buying a wifi router, that basic same model could be different price on-line through company named after a river, looked further to exact model numbers and where the dearer one had a GB in the lettering it came with a 3 pin UK plug but the other came with a 2 pin and a 3 pin adapter (legal requirement for electrical good in UK to have a compatible plug!).

I remember watching a programme on TV a few years ago about fake Makita drills and how the internal motors were only half the size of genuine ones. I would be very surprised if there weren't fake ones about as the chinese have copied virtually everything.

I only discovered a few months ago that they are even copying Leupold telescopic sights!

I think it wise that you take the tool to a recognised dealer. I would also email Dewalt the serial number as the fakers often use the same serial number for all their fake stuff as they did with the Leupold sights I mentioned.

Hi all

I recently bought two de walt drills, with 4 batteries, on ebay that I suspect might be fake. They are well used and i only wanted the lot for the 18v battery, but £17 for two drills, 2 18v batteries, 2x14.4v batteries and a charger seems too good to be true. I reckon there could be 2 problems with it:

1) the batteries are broken. 3 of them do charge, but the light flashes rather quickly. I've not used dewalt tools before so don't know if this flashing light means it's charging, or broken (I understand that it flashes red whilst charging, but flashes quickly if broken - I don't know if it is flashing quickly or not!). The batteries do charge - the 18v battery gets to about 16v, but obviously I don't want to be charging broken batteries. I've got a short video of it charging here. Does anyone know if it's broken, or charging?

2) The whole lot is fake. There is a very similar looking drill for sale on ebay. Does this look like a genuine article? I have to admit, the drills do feel a bit lightweight.

the drill looks just like my old one scuff marks label missing and all
the charger is working correctly should take around 1hr
if there's a problem the light flashes rapidly [about twice as quick]
when fully charged the red light stays on

remember as batteries age they loose charge capacity at the rate off 5 to 25% a year dependent on quality type and how well looked after the batteries are

I'm sure the BBC already cover this sort of thing with their series "Fake Britain"

From what I've seen, if you are daft enough to buy a new tool from a market stall/car boot sale/ or even E-bay without checking out the sellers credentials then you are asking for what you get...

Caveat Emptor.

I'm fairly sure that it was *Fake Britain* (or was it watchdog ?) that covered fake chainsaws with no brake and flimsy guards ..

I bought a Nutri-Bullet a few weeks ago from Ebay. I made sure to check the tick box stating ‘UK Only' and even looked up the sellers name to make sure it was English.

So I bought this Nutri-Bullet from a Mr Stephen Graham from London. It took me through the paypal process which went smoothly enough. Next thing I know I received a confirmation email from a Mr James Wong thanking me for my purchase. The email originated from China.

I emailed the guy and told him in no uncertain terms I did not appreciate being conned and I wanted a refund. The refund came through but I was annoyed how he was allowed to register with a fake name. It’s clear to me he did not want to register with his Chinese credentials as anyone would suss out the rouse.

It’s obvious he set up some sort of holding address in London but his business was in China.
I contacted Ebay to let them know this seller originates from China and the item was sure to be a fake but they weren’t interested.

Lesson learned, I’ll buy f*ck all else electrical from Ebay.
