I bought one of these from Tradepoint when they had the special offer on, but I have been too busy to test it out yet
I hope it is OK as I sold my old saw at a car boot sale

I bought one the other day, but haven't taken it out the box yet. Need to rip some boards down to make some shelves so will report back. I nearly bought a DeWalt 23620 for £84 from Costco...but when I saw this on offer @ Screwfix it caught my eye.
I bought one of the Evolution mitre saws and was impressed with it for the price, hence buying this.

Well I put mine to service the other week and was impressed.
It ripped down 4 x 1m lengths of melamine coated chipboard/furniture board very cleanly without splintering the coating and also some MDF beaded panel. £50 well spent IMO!

No problem....it was even better value as I had a 10% off code so came in at £45.

Got the 230v one which I won from the compo a little while ago.
Used it on a kitchen work top - it went through it like butter. No splintering, no roughness and effortless.
Only thing to check, is the blade tightness when you get it out the box - mine was loose!!! It's not going to fall off on first use, but it might damage the motor when it gets stuck.
It's got the safety cover handle too - somthing the first range of EVO's didn't have!!!!!!!
£45 quid - 10/10

I used my last EVO on a metal garage door and also a wooden door that had carraige bolts in.....ate them for dinner.
The new one feels like it's got a bit more torque....guess it would do the same.

I bought one of these and the guide/fence fell apart within the first 5 minutes of using the saw. Very dissapointed and will be taking back for a refund.

Re: Evolution RAGE 1B 185mm circular saw: £49.99 @ Screwfix
Quick addition to this...........
If you are cutting anything with a worktop like depth - do a test cut first!!!! The cut itself is beautiful with the supplied blade, but 0 degrees (set with no angle) is anything but - VERY apparant with somthing thick like worktop, looks more like a wedge of cheese.
Also think the blade isn't 100% straight either - over a length of worktop, it seems to want to pull to the side when you get around 1/2 way through......just somthing to be aware of (Chez especially - as you siad you doing a worktop soon!).
Overall, if it's still on for 50 clams, you can't complain.
