PORTABLE TOOL CHEST £22 - TESCO DIRECT
hi guys, well thought id let you know my best buy this month as far as tools etc go, it was this
http://www.tesco.com/direct/3-in-1-mobi ... pageLevel=
22 quid! I have seen many of these from mid range to high range between £50 to £150 I would say this is probably not as good as a £150 or £200 Dewalt or Makita however it is better than the Stanley one I was looking at... and at a fraction of the price. Also if you got a Tesco close to you, it can be delivered to store free of charge for your collection a few days later. I was gutted seeing one in store one day but only nipping in for a butty and having change that couldnt get it there and then, so i nipped back later that night. ALL WERE GONE :-( (apparently one bloke came in a cleaned em out) anyway tried to order from tesco direct but they were out iof stock too. well anyway I have mine on order now so they must of had another batch delivered, if so i wouldnt expect this to last long so jump at it whilst you can if your interested
edit - oh by the way. doesnt really say a brand on there, however it is a KETER, they make garden storage solutions usually, like those plastic mini sheds for ,lawn mowers and stuff, not really a fan of these myself but anyway just so you know!

Re: PORTABLE TOOL CHEST £22 - TESCO DIRECT
I have a Stanley one and I have to say I have been disappointed in it. Perhaps I have too much gear in it as the sides bulge and distort to prevent the top section sitting in properly. Two of the hinges on the lid have snapped and it is a bast to wheel along as there is poor ground clearance.
They are a good place to keep all the stuff you use frequently but the portability is questionable if it is loaded up like mine.
Perhaps I should take my anvil out the base (I made that up)

I had one of these full of tools in the back of my wee van. Second day I was using the van & the tool box SMASH!!, it had rolled over in the back of the van with the weight of the tools & smashed the box into a 100 bids.....I know I should have penned it in........
Unless you buy the big DeWalt tool trolley one, they're not much cop for a tradesman.

Not a box for trade use, it wouldn't last 5 minutes, ok to keep in the garage, but wouldn't consider it a bargain, it's just a cheap thin bit of plastic on wheels.

Re: PORTABLE TOOL CHEST £22 - TESCO DIRECT
I thought about one of these, then got a folding trolley (£12 in Aldi) and my tool tote and 20" tool bags both sit nicely on it on top of each other. I can sit my hoover in it's bag on top, too, or anything else. I like tool bags!
This also means that if one bit breaks/ needs upgrading I don't have to shell out too much.

Re: PORTABLE TOOL CHEST £22 - TESCO DIRECT
I must admit that I am a sucker for a good toolbox.
For work I have one of these-
which I get in and out of the van using a pair of these (or the forklift if at work )-
At home I have a Stanley toolbox for plumbing tools and another different style for my electrical tools, I then have a bag for my Dewalt 18v tools and a bag for my Milwaukee 12v tools.
