Interesting thought, as you do.
Does having an address book with details of friends, business associates etc stored on your computer contravene the act.

No - doesn't apply if the information is being kept for personal use and is non-business related. You are under no obligation to register, nor worry about it :)

This is why I never store anyone's details on my computer. Once you send your name and address for the competition prize or for postal freebies I always delete the addresses immediately
