Makita BML185 & BML184 Torches

Post by Dickie »

I have both these 18VLith-Ion torches & both have gone on the blink, both just out of warranty, anyone else had this problem?
I think Makita may have removed these items from their product list, can anyone shed any light on this(sorry about the pun).

Buying them bare they are not expensive items, but I'm reluctant to buy them again if they're poor quality....... ::b
Thanks chaps.

Thanks BA, oh aye I can change a bulb & the bulbs are all OK. There's small PCBs in both these torches, even with my knowledge of electronics, I'm not going to bother looking at these on a product that costs £20-30.
I spoke to Makita & they said there's not a known problem, but hey they would say that........ ::b

So I'm sending them to their service workshop, they're going to look at them & let me know.

I didn't even look for one BA, I just unscrewed the cover, spotted the PCB, phoned them & posted the two torches. If it's just an internal fuse I'd like to know why they both have blown? The guy at Makita said he'd have a look & phone me, so we'll wait & see the outcome.
Thanks again.

there may or may not be an internal fuse
torches tended to be bulb matched battery output so all that could go wrong is bulb blows battery goes flat or broken connection

now with electronics in the circuit it could easily blow up with high amps

10 out off 10 they deserve it but to be honest anything else would be poor service for a proffesional tool company
