I would also check your 'System Event' reports in Admin Tools which should store what happened at time of crash.

Also here is a handy hint, if like me some spurious software has prevented you from running automatic updates as it is 'missing':

Once you have visited this page, bookmark it - it took me ages to find it and it had been a long time since I last used it to resolve a similar problem years ago! (That said, XP is due for retirement in 2 years time!)

The computer freezes first then a few minutes later I get the blue screen with the below on it.

I'm guessing you have a faulty memory DIMM, and the error codes suggest that as a possibility. Download Memtest of your preference for optical disc or USB memory stick: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

• burn a CD or DVD, or copy to memory stick
• reboot (check your BIOS settings if you need to change the boot drive order)
• allow Memtest to run 5-6 passes of testing
• if the tests complete without errors then reboot and pull the disc/USB stick, you know the memory isn't faulty*
• if you see errors shut down the PC, open it up and remove the defective memory DIMM(s)
• reboot and test again...
• repeat until you have tested all DIMMs and DIMM sockets

*if the memory DIMMs and sockets are all good then you'll need to move onto the next possible culprit

Ran memtest and no errors.

I did a sevens forum zip (SF Diagnostic tool) if it helps, it certainly makes interesting reading if you know what it says. Zip 3 was the latest.

Blue screens are often caused by faulty drivers, or hardware problems. I don't think Adobe is the cause of the problem.

The answer to the problem may lie in the crash dump. I've got basic instructions on how to analyse amemory dumps here http://richardstk.wordpress.com/2010/11 ... -of-death/ If you can upload the dump somewhere I could take a look at it for you. If you choose to uploaded it for me to take a look, zip it first.

Am I right in thinking you bought the PC discussed here deleted-t45462-60.html? If you did can you check to see if the SSD is the OCZ Solid 3. The controller on that drive had a few firmware issues when it was first released and unless you've updated the firmware on the SSD it will probably be very out of date. One of the issues with the early firmware was the STOP 0x000000F4 error you've had.

You can download a tool to update the SSD firmware here http://www.ocztechnology.com/ssd_tools/SandForce_Based/. You can't update the firmware on the drive if it's running Windows, so you have to use the Linux tool. I've run this tool on my own SSDs from a USB flash drive without problem, but it's best to backup any critical data.

It may not cure the problem, but it's worth a try.

The Crucial M4 uses a different controller to the Solid 3. The latest firmware for this drive is 0009, you're on 0002. You can get the firmware here http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx I'm not aware of STOP errors with this controller, but give the update a try.
