Primer for bathroom floor ply

Post by OchAye »

Hi,

I asked the question a while back. Laying ply in bathroom on top of existing planks ... it will get plastic tiles on top of it. I was told the underside and edges should be primed and at the time it was suggested to use either SBR or Acrylic primer.

Can I use oil based primer? Which I will be using on some other jobs, e.g. http://www.crowntrade.co.uk/Products/Pr ... rimer.aspx

TIA

Hi OA,

This primer seems to be for paint, but as you're not actually using proper tiles as such, might be ok.

Probably best to contact Crown or tile manufacturer/supplier.

Personally I'd use the Ardex P51 primer, cause it's awesome and blue!

Cheers :thumbleft:

We are talking about the underside of the ply, yes? Not the side on which the tiles would be stuck (so moisture levels are the same top and bottom side).

I don't see why you'd need to prime it at all.. just screw it down? :dunno:

It's not going to hurt to prime the wood at all, assuming this is standard WPB?
