My First Computer Build
Hey guys, could you help me out? Im going to make a gaming pc, and these are the components that i put together, will they work good with eachother? any tips? Ok list;
CM 690 II Advanced
Asrock Z77 Extreme4 MOBO
CM 600W LITE power supply
I5 3570K CPU
500GB HDD
2x4 Kingston RAM
Cheap DVD-R drive
Things that i will add later on;
Graphics card (around the 200 euros, not sure which one yet)
Better CPU cooler for overclocking
Will these parts match together? The reason im buying my GPU later, is because i want a good one and i just dont have the budget to afford that too yet, so till then i will use intel HD 4000 graphics which are actually pretty decent! Hope you guys can help!
Thanks!

Re: My First Computer Build
I have no idea as to their comparability, but why have such a fancy case?
You also mention intel graphics, I presume that is on the motherboard? If so why buy such a motherboard if you are going to later buy a separate graphics card (a separate graphics card is a good idea)
You also do not mention operating system.
I would also suggest a bigger powersupply 750 watt, since if you buy a bigger one now it will save time and money later as you wont have to upgrade it.
Others probably have a better opinion than me, but that is my 2p worth.

Re: My First Computer Build
Actually, the graphics are on the CPU. And thanks for replying btw ;) yeah, i might buy 750w then. The operating system is going to be windows 7 64 bit. The case might be a bit too fancy, but i think its worth it.someone-else wrote:I have no idea as to their comparability, but why have such a fancy case?

Re: My First Computer Build
Hi, had similar 1st time build experience, can see in this article, chose the Asus P8Z77-V as I am not a gamer yet but liked the wifi module which comes with this MOBO.

Hmmm.. that mobo is a bit more expensive, but i do want wifi. I saw a wifi usb adapter somewhere for 10 euros and this board is like 40 euros more so i think i will stick to asrock.. thanks for replying though ;)aeromech3 wrote:Hi, had similar 1st time build experience, can see in this article, chose the Asus P8Z77-V as I am not a gamer yet but liked the wifi module which comes with this MOBO.

Re: My First Computer Build
Depends on the efficiency of the PSU.....
Along with the rail ratings, one high capacity 12V rail is more useful than 5 lower rated 12V rails.
Antec cases are pretty good too, minimal sharp edges and strong build quality.

Re: My First Computer Build
I think all mobo's come with integrated graphics anyway, so they work out of the box. Yep a good graphics card is essential for gaming.someone-else wrote: You also mention intel graphics, I presume that is on the motherboard? OS? Probably Win7, I'd imagine.

Re: My First Computer Build
Not all MOBO's John, some dont have onboard Video Chipsets, examples:-
ASRock Z77 Extreme4
ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
I Stand to be corrected.

Re: My First Computer Build
The ASUS P8Z77-V PRO, almost certainly has built in graphics. After all it does have a vga port and HDMI output on the back. What use would they be if it doesn't have any output to them ?

Click me for the whole review.a website wrote:There's the full set of video outputs on the rear of the motherboard; you get HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA and a digital-only DVI-D connector, and the motherboard supports up to two monitors from the processor's internal graphics chipset.

Re: My First Computer Build
You can't game on an internal i7 CPU. Don't go so overboard with the specs hoping for a gaming PC without a graphics card.
In modern games, the GPU is the power behind the majority of the processing of scenery & terrain.

Re: My First Computer Build
It depends, certain games are more CPU heavy (guild wars 2 springs to mind). But still do require a fairly decent graphics card to play.
The vast majority it is the GPU which matters though.

Ahh, my trust USR modem. I spent my savings and got the external one, the V90 and found a firmware upgrade to flash it to V92 - how happy was I.root wrote:ahhh my first computer build

The fact it had a foot to stand upright was the icing on the cake for me.
