Wall Lights?

I have recently had my walls plastered and strangeley my wall lights wont reconnect in the combinaton they did

I have had all lights on low voltage, and had one set on their own that wont switch off at the wall

I have 3 cables all 3 core sticking out of the wall. one is permenantly live whilst the other 2 are dead?? although all the earths are joined together

can somebody tell me the sequence of wiring to get both lights working from one switch??

i have a multimeter and know live and neuteral and yes i know where thefuse box is too.....apart from that im lost can anyone give me step by step instructions please???

I have now established which 2 cables are the permenant live and which cable feeds the other set of wall lights. so now when connected correctly i have 2 sets of wall lights permenantly on.

Now my problem is how to connect the third cable (which i have established is the switch cable) to the lights to switch on and off.
As a matter of note there is no junction box so one set of lights feeds the other.

Can anyone help before bank holiday ends please??

when you say three core cable, do you mean that it is twin core and earth?

so there will be two insulated wires and on non insulated wire for each cable?

Yes,
All cables are exactly the same twin and earth type
red black and earth

The third (switch) cable has no voltage on it but the other 2 cables when connected through the same terminal blocks operate both lights
there is red tape on 2 of the cores but im ignoring that for now till i get further advice.

Its nice to know i can get a tradesman on sunday lol

the cable that you are not currently using is the switch cable.

switch off the electric and remove the two red wires-

you need to connect one end of that cable to the permanent live and the other wire from the switch cable to where toy remove the permanent live from, hope that makes sense?

That is why this cable has red tape/sheathing on it.
