Sealing Internal Corners - Before or after grout?

Post by gib_goblin »

Hi,

Just about to starting grouting a newly tiled bathroom, but....
What is the accepted convention when sealing internal corners?

Grout first - Silicone second?
or
Silcone first - Grout second?

Tiles are 20/30cm stuck with BAL on new P/B. Thanks.

Not sure what the pro tilers do but I grout first and then silicone afterwards.

Grout first then silicone. Any internal corners should be left free of grout, do not grout the internal corners and then simply silicone over the top, it needs to be left free so the silcone can fill the void and provide an expansion gap

Yup....never ever grout internal corners......

Only silicone these areas...grout will crack with any movement and when it does..displace/crack/move the silicone will to,and so water ingress....

Plus grout and silicone.....don't go....at all...
