At £108 don't think I would buy one
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Re: DAB Radio - is it worth it?
For any DAB £108 sounds pretty good. It annoys me that they are still so expensive, and that reception is not great where we are, but I couldn't live or work without 6Music on in the background.
When I heard they'd discovered a cure for dyslexia it was like music to my arse!

Don't buy bush or alba though, my gran has one (second or third) and all 3 have tried to incinerate themselves if left plugged in on standby.....
My parents have a tecnika that I bought them a few years back, its only now blown the display (still plays music and the sound isn't bad)....I miss 3C (continuous cool country) as a station, good country not "my woman took my truck and trailer"

Good quality Radio, haven't got one myself as plenty others have them blasting out, seem to be better sound quality than other site radios including the Bosch Cube and Dewalt...
Only thing wrong with them is that you can't hear f*ck all else...

Re: DAB Radio - is it worth it?
You need to consider this is a site radio so is a lot more robust than a normal radio you'd have at home. It's also water resistant and runs off standard Makita battery's (12v - 18v Li-ion & Ni-cad)

Re: DAB Radio - is it worth it?
If your at a fixed point DAB is brilliant but if you try a DAB car stereo, especially round here, the signal keeps going all the time. Since the Gov is meant to be cutting off analogue radio sometime soon I would have thought more effort would have been put in for a better signal. Even car manufacturers are still putting analogue stereos in - their customers are going to be annoyed when it stops working before the car warranty runs out and the warranty won't cover that.
BTW the Makita sounds like a cracking price to me
