Saw your question RE: D15 in the other post, you won't have a problem with it, but if there ever is, give me a shout and we'll work something out ;) :salute:
roger that on both counts :salute:

i'll give it slightly longer to dry before grouting, think it states 24 hours,

(yeap, 24 hours normally, up to 3 days on non-porous.. and says remove the paint :thumbright: http://www.ardex.co.uk/pdfs/ARDEX%20D15.pdf)

looks like I've got three coats to deal with,
our white emulsion, a blue layer and a purple layer (previous occupants certainty had weird taste!)

cheers again Matt :thumbleft:

one thing i've not looked at is the threshold strip between bathroom and landing,
anything in particular to use?

Back after a little unplanned xmas break :)

Most people use carpet to tile trims, wish you had said when you were ordering as I'd have chucked one on for you!!

You can get them pre-cut to 0.9m lengths, or sometimes 2.5m and you can cut to size.

How's the job going?

Cheers :thumbright:

going slowly unfortunately, time has been lacking in the evening after i get home and weekends chocka with xmas stuff,
hopefully with Christmas break i can concentrate and get it well on the way to start tiling. :thumbright:

the hours I have managed to get on with the sanding has been slow dirty dusty work, didn't realise the first belt was fine grained and the vinyl/silk melted onto it once through the emulsion ::b  i had to peel strips off it
looks like 5 different paint layers to attack, 2 of them white

got some 40 grit belts the other day and it's been flying through, so much so after 10 mins i can't see anything at all and have to wipe down the goggles and wait for dust to settle a few mins  so hopefully should have most if not all sanded down soon.
the bits that need more gentle attack i've got an orbital for.

thankfully had the foresight to get some cheap dust sheets and tape the door frame shut while i'm sanding,
heating on = positive pressure upstairs and it does blow gently out the open window,
but not before coating everything in white dust, i come out looking like a snow man

p.s. you definately need a proper filter mask and goggles, the belt sander is so noisy i had to get some ear defenders as well after first attempt.

Hello warmadmax, just come across your column.I couldn't help noticing that you've been at this bathroom since October and are still at it ????
I've ripped out a bathroom on Monday, including removing all render from one wall 2.6m x2.4m(dot n dab this wall).Boarded all four walls, re-run all plumbing (changed bath to 1200 shower cubicle) to accomodate new layout of sink and toilet.Fitted new shower tray.Overboarded floor 1800x 2500 using 9mm ply screwed at 6'' centres.Run cable & plumbing for shower. Not fitting any white goods until tiling is complete.Tomorrow I'm buying all tiles and I'll be out of there on Sunday.OH and I,ll be cladding the ceiling in pvc.

Been doing it for 20 yrs and I maintain 40 student properties many of which Bathrooms I've done
If it didn't work do you think I'd still be doing it?
As for the wall being cold, well its going to be warmer than the 120 year old render that fell off.
Boards scewed through joists using 50mm 8s and elsewhere using 25mm 8s

i've got a full time job which isn't construction and this is what i'm doing when i've got spare time at home, sometimes only a few hours a week, sometimes none at all.

I'm learning as i go on, so more often than not things change or i need to go buy things i've forgotten or not got (tools, materials)
not that i should feel the need to explain myself at all!
