Hi,
I know there are countless posts about tiling in shower enclosures and stuff, but if you read enough of them, you end up getting confused!
I have a plastered wall along the length of the bath, and a stud wall at the end of the bath where the shower hangs. I'm about to do up the bathroom which includes pulling down and re-doing the stud wall.
1) Should I use normal plasterboard, moisture resistant board, or aquapanel?
2) With any of the above, should you skim plaster it first? If so, don't you then need to seal it? Would I need to seal the existing plastered wall anyway, once all the old tiles are off?
3) I'll be aiming to tank both walls, correct?
Any help you can give me would be great. I've only ever used normal plasterboard and skimmed and then tiled onto that, and that always worked fine. But now I want to do it properly.

Re: Tiliing around a bath / shower combo
What size/type/weight off tiles are you planning on fixing to the walls...
This would usually dictate what's best for boarding walls out with...
The plastered wall along the bath....is this a solid wall or plaster board with a slim coat...
And plastered walls will always need primed prior to fixing tiles...
So never skim p/board as this brings weights per m2.down...

Thanks for replying.
Just normal smallish ceramic tiles, nothing huge.
The wall along the side is a solid plastered wall.

Re: Tiliing around a bath / shower combo
For stud wall with the shower use aquapanel/hardie boards ect...
Long wall tank it with the paint on version or membrane...
IMO single part flexy adhesive...grout after 16hrs...if your a tile fixer(do it for a living)...fast set flex addy ...grout after 3hrs...
Flexy bagged grout also...
Keep your questions to your post please.....then no confusing...eh...
