Colour Republic......

Post by BillyGoat »

Didn't want to steal a thread, but wanted to know what went up on the frame in this kitchen.....was it just something for lighting or more practical?

This is a kitchen we've been doing this week.

The window wall runs out by a similar amount to yours... but it's over 5m not 1.5m!! and it's gradual not sharp. The units closest to the camera are packed off the wall and the ones furthest away are scribed slightly. But then this is going to have granite worktops so will be templated making the bow unnoticeable.

There is an island going underneath which will have a range cooker and then breakfast bar behind.

The canopy will house a ceiling extractor and the two recess will hold suspended pot racks which has lighting above to make them sparkle and lighting over the breakfast bar too. The whole lot will then be clad in oak round the perimeter. (made from cornice, plinth and pelmet)

In the end it will look something like this... only better!

Oh no, really!?! You mean no one will ever ask me to hang beautiful brown wallpaper like that?

Seriously, it looks fantastic, and the area above the island looks practical and elegant. Brilliant.

Cheers mate

Built the whole thing on the deck then lifted in to place

It consists of pelmet, plinth and cornice

So pelmet was cut to size first, then the plinth was attached to this with 'L' brackets then the lip on the back of the cornice was mostly cut off but the bit that was left was used to screw through and into the plinth. Lift the whole thing in to place as one piece then fixed from inside the framework with the use of stretcher plates
