18v lithium ion tool range

This is a review of the Makita 18v lithium ion range in general. Since my first purchase of the bhp453 i have been very impressed. I now have the bhp453 drill driver, bga452 angle grinder and the bss611 circular saw. The 18v tools just make everything so much easier, you grab the box out of the van you need, un pack the tools, use it then put it back in the van. There is no need to unpack the tool, the extension, find a power point, uncoil the extension, plug the tool in, use it then have to pack the whole lot away again. There are no wires to trip over or get caught in the tool while you are using it which is a big plus when it comes to safety!

To sum up: the tools are worth buying just for convenience but coupled with a solidly built tool, powerfull batteries, fast charging and the amount of tools in the range. I think they are my best investment so far

Quite agree, got the torch bare for a xmas pressie, so needed to get a battery for it, bought 2 plus a charger as they fit in my radio too.... whilst buying the batteries thought I may as well get the bare impact driver which is awesome... makes my Panasonics look like toys... so I invested in the cordless skill saw.... got the BSS601 which when it arrived was cack handed for me, I'm used to having the motor on the left and looking over or under the machine to follow the cut, but this one has the motor on the right, so when using it you're vision is blocked by your left arm... It would be a good tool for a left hander I think. So I returned it and have ordered a BSS501 with the motor on the left as that's what I'm used to, it's only for small cuts so the 5 inch blade is not an issue, I have a bigger corded one for heavier work, so I'm looking forward to it arriving now. Now I want to get the jigsaw too! I wish I'd stuck with one brand a while ago now as it's so easy just having a bag of cordless tools that take the same batteries.. They charge in literally 22 minutes too... amazing tools!

Nice bit of kit, that, if a tad heavy on the batteries. the only thing it misses over the mains jobbie is the variable speed control. TBH I don't really miss that so much, either. The SDS was another good buy for me
