After several posts about my crap pc and wanting to get a new one, I finally ordered it today, to get it in this years accounts.
Hope I've made the right decision

Re: Finally done it!
Well done, I had to get a new computer as well, so I can run Sketchup software.
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

Re: Finally done it!
Actually....screen grab while I'm working, the i7's are mad processors when working.
I've got running on here:
- A virtual server (2008R2) working
- Multipoint 2011 running
- Media Center watching TV (well, listening)
- a virtual Windows 7 client
- The host OS - Windows 8 doing it's magic
- multiple things download and working
- UHM (of course)
- Three physical laptops connected to the virtual server, testing some software - the work is being done on the host
machine doesn't stutter/pause one bit - in fact, CPU is practically bored.....only a couple of times has it actually registered anything of interest.

Re: Finally done it!
not suprised BG, you've got one of those "xtreme i7", basically a xeon chip
what i like is running resource monitor and seeing "parked" cpu cores... know when the server's slacking off

Re: Finally done it!
Thanks BG.
Glad to hear you are still happy with Aria John.
Was going to be delivered tomorrow, but have had to put it off until Thursday as nobody at home
Cant wait, as this one has basically had it.
Keeps deleting things and losing installed programs as it sees fit. Keep getting blue screen crashes going on about IRQ's as well.
That is just after re-installing win 7 as well, to try to keep me going.
I haven't bought a new operating system with it, just going to load my Win7 Pro onto it.

Re: Finally done it!
Ahh shame - but look on the Brightside.....closer to the weekend for more fiddling time :)
Not a huge difference between 7 and 8 performance wise, at least not with my stuff. I only got it because I wanted Hyper-V, but not really a consideration for many......
