Wrought iron side entry gates-

These are a couple of gates that I made before Christmas for my sister (with help from a mate). Although the house is in a nice area there have been occasions where rubbish that was not theirs has mysteriously appeared in their waste bins (which are kept at the rear of the property). I was struggling buying her and the brother in law a Christmas present so I made these

A mate of mine makes gates like this for a living and so I used his workshop and equipment to make them. They have been fully hot dipped galvanised and then spray painted.

My mate ordered in all of the bits, so I just did a bit of cutting, welding and then sanding.

The bars are solid and each gate probably weighs 100KG+

My mate bent those on the fly press

The reason for setting them on an angle is because the gap is very narrow and if the gates were set straight there was not enough room to get the large wheelie bin through the opening.
Fitting them was difficult, nearly hit the gas pipe at the left hand side, then nearly severed the Virgin cable at the other side. The gas pipe was only about 8 inches below the surface of the Tarmac.

That was the only thing I could think of, giving a bit more width.

Fly press are pretty handy tool ain't they. Sold mine last summer, got bored of moving it about.

Yes he delivers and installs depending on how far away it is from his unit in Rishton, Lancashire.

Like the locking mechanism, look nice and heavy duty.

Looks like next door also may have had a few problems also.
