Mc Donalds (yes, that one)
Today we were in town and went into McDonalds, on the way in saw some "advertising tv screens" got to the counter, noticed a sign collect point number 1, and another collection point number 2. I went back outside to make sure we were not in argos, we weren't
The "advertising screens" were not for advertising, they are for placing and paying for your order
But next to the collection points was a till with a young person behind it, so we joined that queue, got the front ordered, paid then she said here is your receipt your order number is....... you have to join that queue (bunch of people also looking bewildered) over there.
?
Although like me you may not go into a McDonalds often, has this format arrived in yours? its terrible, longer wait and that feeling of why has that number come up before mine, and mine is a lower number?

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Once was enough for me (my son's birthday 4th or 5th birthday party - let some other idiot clear the jelly and ice cream off the floor) I had a burger while I was there and it was probably the worst thing I've ever eaten.someone-else wrote:

Not in Maccy D's by Canary Wharf yet.
Reminds me of my mate when he stopped at the Little Chef with his wife and kids whilst on a car journey. They walked in and went and sat down at a table.
Worker came up to him and said, "excuse me sir but you have to wait at the desk and be shown to a table".
So he said "fcuk off this is a motorway cafe not a fcuking Michelin Star restruarant". "Besides, we are the only people in here"!

McDonalds are a funny lot, the company I work for supply cooking / drinks equipment to them.
Chances are you have entered a store that is on an extended trial of a new system, hence why it's not widespread. It's general in the way McDonald's trial new kit. We are in the process of rolling out a new blended ice / smoothie machine to UK stores, and they have been on trial for quite some time in various branches.

Come to Bradford and try the local variety of Big Mac. Where else, but at MahMoods (MacMoods?)

Re: Mc Donalds (yes, that one)
I think it's GREAT having self service things.
I was in France not so long back. Tried to order and the woman made ZERO effort to understand/take my order. None.
Went back, used self service and changed the menu to English.
Went to collect order and the same stupid woman was there to give it me. She said something in frog, so I just looked at her.....she said it again and I still looked at her. She tried one last time, louder (English tourist style) so I used my only French which was vous petits pois. She looked completely confused, stuffed the bag with mayo and stuff and handed it over.
She'd met her match for ignorance.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I fully understand that *I* was the foreigner around there. It was near an airport, so you'd expect them to be used to having the occasional person not able to speak Frog (god forbid).dandan wrote:Wow, the cheek of the woman, speaking French in FranceBillyGoat wrote:I think it's GREAT having self service things.

I've been to places all over Europe and people make concessions either way to help out or get the right thing, be it holding up things, pointing, etc. She just expected me to suddenly learn her language as it was impossible to read her dead lifeless body language and lack of emotive gestures (excluding disgust).
Hell, I went into a place in Romania and there wasn't a SHRED of English - not a jot. The menu was completely incomprehensible and the woman was OUTSTANDING at getting me a meal that didn't have sheep's eyes in.
French......
Nearly all my bad travel experiences, be it hotels, food, taxis, work, etc - all in France. God forbid anyone making them work past their allotted hours Stood there once, talking to a group of well paid bods, against the clock for hours before I had to go to airport.....*BUZZ* mid sentence, they all just walked off. Looked the English and German guys who just shrugged, didn't even have time to tell me where they were going.

Yes, isn't it wonderful what you Americans achieved?Colour Republic wrote:Well they could have been so easily have been speaking German by now... just saying
Ah yes, this is the nation that gave us the nickname "Les Rosbiefs", who (for a while at least) drove round in automobiles called "Le Car", who've adopted "le football", "le weekend" and even "le train". I don't think they are ignorant, just bl##dy jealousBillyGoat wrote:French......
