Flush tile/stone to top of bathtub

Hi. I am very new to this forum, and a novice with all things DIY. However, my skills lie more with design. I am designing a new bathroom for our family. To keep costs down, I am trying to design every aspect (within reason!) of it so that I can employ skilled fitters to actually...well...fit it!

Essentially, I want to have the bath largely tiled in travertine. I am hoping to 'box in' a new bathtub, with a travertine tiled surround. I want the travertine to run over the edge of the bathtub, and am not sure how this kind of thing works in the flesh. I attach a few images from a 3d model I am creating. The images show how the edge of the bath is 35mm higher than the surrounding tiling. Is it possible (and if so, how) to have the tiling run over the top of this edge, or is this not a sensible way to detail this?

The bath I am looking at is one from Bathstore.com as it looks quite nice and seems to be a reasonable price: http://www.bathstore.com/products/pool- ... -1696.html

There may be a completely different way of doing this, and I look forward to your suggestions. If it is expensive to achieve this kind of look, I will need to re-think things a little.

The bath isn't going to be fixed to your wall..
So you will need to build a sub frame 2x2 treated timber or thicker off the wall then make sure you get your bath fixing into this...

I would use either 6 or 12.5mm cement based backerboard for boarding out,yes you can raise this higher than the bath....but you will need to have an access panel fitted to you can gain access to your supplies..

You can get an edged/rounded/beveled tile to go around the top off the bath edge...

Travertine tiles...you will be looking at using a WHITE fast setting flexiable adhesive...

Travertine tiles will need sealed to help protect them from stains ect...do this before and after grouting,just follow mfr inst..
