Feather edge fence panels

Feather edge fence panels

Due to some recent high winds I had to replace some feather edge fence panels at the side of the house. You can buy these for less than they cost me to make but I doubt if they will last as long (fingers crossed)

The old panels were too large for the opening and were touching at both sides and the bottom, When I made the new panels I made them slightly smaller then any water would not soak into them as much.

You can see that the old panels are rotten-

I made the new panels by making a frame, using 3*2 timber for the cross sections and 2*2 for the uprights. I made the uprights longer so that after I had nailed all the feather edge boards in position I could cut the top radius and the 2*2 would give me something substantial to nail into instead of just nailing into the feather edge boards.

The cordless nail gun makes really light work of jobs like this-

The finished panels, just need a lick of wood preserver now although all cut ends were soaked in preserver before assembly
