I had my van insured with Express insurance for at least the last 6 years.
Most of the time they have given me decent quotes and I do class myself to be a low risk driver with no points, no accidents, claims or convictions and 17 years NCB.
This year I thought they were taking the p!ss slightly when they sent me a quote through (which I managed to beat online by about £200 )
This is the exact wording from the renewal-
"We know times are tough at the moment, so as an extra thank you we'd like to extend a very special invitation; for this year only and for just £35 finance arrangement fee, you can spread the cost of your insurance over 12 equal instalments, at 0% APR!"
As I have always paid my insurance in full every year that is not much use to me, is it?
Also the £35 finance arrangement fee equates to an APR of about 5% on the price they quoted for insurance. I'm sure in this current economic climate that will really help people

Re: Express insurance
Typical insurance company's mate ,always trying to take you for a idiot. I change my insurance supplier every year, just go with the cheapest.
They never want to pay out, had two people hit me up the back and both times they say its fifty fifty

Re: Express insurance
Insurance companies have us motorists by the b*****ks though. In this modern world, they're quick to say it's due to the amount of uninsured drivers on the road, yet today we have anpr cameras in most traffic police cars. I can only imagine that there aren't enough traffic cops out on the road targeting these uninsured drivers. Car insurance these days is a rip off.

Re: Express insurance
mine asked me for an extra £200. The chap rang me and said: 'Because your van is a new van, do you realise that once it leaves the shop floor it's value depreciates drastically?
It is insured with us at A VALUE OF £15,000, but if it was stolen, all you will be given in payment is the current value which works out as used, not ''NEW''.
If you pay the extra £200, regardless of what happens during the year, we will give you the full amount of £15,000''
I said NO, and he went mad. How can you turn down such a fantastic offer? I told him I don't want it.
ok, he said. ''You realise I will have to make a note on your file that you declined the offer?''

Re: Express insurance
Unless there has been a massive change, insurance companies used to make a loss on car insurance but would off set that against Assurance profits.
