How much to charge for refitting 3 concrete paving slabs
Sorry this is the only picture I have as I forgot to take after photo.
A friend asked me to relay the flag as the were loose and in a dangerous position, my concern is how much to charge.
I quoted him £20 materials + £60 labour.
Have I charged too much?
Thanks

Thing is if you are happy that you've done the job well and the customer is happy..........job done.

Ok, the materials were 2 5kg bags of rapid set mortar from B&Q at £4.54 each, one LGE Flexitub at £5.98 and a mallet and trowel costing £5.10.
I was there for just over 2 hours
Thanks

Taking the p*ss a bit charging him for the tools you've purchased, but if he's agreed to it.......hope he never asks for a lift to the train station, or you'll have to charge him for buying a taxi

The LGE Flexitub was bigger than I needed, that and the mallet and trowel I supposed should not be part of the materials but what other way could I do the job.

Ok, if I subtract the tool costs from materials, what about the labour charge based on picture and just over 2 hours work.

It seems a bit on the high side to me, but we don't know how much travel time is involved etc. - it all takes time picking up materials - so, a couple of hours labour would not be unreasonable, (imo).
One day it will all be firewood.

Re: How much to charge for refitting 3 concrete paving slabs
I figured 1/2 day based on removing wobbly slabs and mortar then relaying.....

Where you doing something else as well?WAMS wrote:just over 2 hours work.

To be fair you have to make a living, if this was a customer I didn't know I would charge them £100.
Materials I would probably have, but its my time and I need to budget for something going wrong. I wont do any job for someone I don't know for less than a ton.

Fitted a living room for a "mate" with laminate flooring once. (He's a plumber (and was corgi reg) ) I only charged him £50 and was there for the best part of a day. Some months later I wanted a gas hob connecting , when I'd put a new kitchen in at home. Cheeky barsteward charged me £50 and was there about an hour at the most.

Re: How much to charge for refitting 3 concrete paving slabs
I'd probably do £30 labour and materials at cost if it was a local job.
If it was far away I'd factor in travel.
Quick job after all
