happy, check what? I can't see any link, anti virus software sounds like the culprit. I'm always getting a " your computer has 6 million infections, we'll fix it for $ss" prompt, but i thought i got rid of that.

Mr Tom!

I'll give you some suggestions in the morning - just got back from Newcastle, been a long day!!! Why Aye pet, like!

Depends if we can find an answer for you in the mean time, but in 2/3 weeks I'll be up your way. If it's not sorted, get some biscuits in and I'll have a gander!

Am I right in guessing that disabling your anti virus software is the last thing you wanna be doing when on the net??

Got the missus a computer and when connected up (using an old ethernet cable) It was taking absolute ages to download web pages. Went on speedtest.net and an old 56k modem would have been about 4 times faster. Replaced the cable and WHAM, speed shot up to over 10Mb. Now we're on the 30Mb connection speed, we both get around 32Mb speed (obviously when she's on her bingo sites, I get no peace,,, specially if she wins 25p)
