trimming 20mm off tile?

Post by rossbarclay »

What's the best way to trim small pieces of ceramic tiles? I've tried my tile cutter but it keeps shattering the Tile. I know I can use a grinder but the edges aren't as clean cut as I'd like.

Score the line then use an adjustable spanner with the jaws 'just' wider than the thickness of the tile. Place tile in the jaws with the scribed line at the tip and snap edge off cleanly - bending AWAY from the scribed line of course. If the snap doesn't do the whole length then 'nibble' away along the scribed line til it's sorted. I did a 10mm trim off three 600mm tiles without so much as a mistake.
