Airport food hall
Idiots. 6.30am flight to Dublin. Get here at about 5am so I can have breakfast. Travelling ALONE I cue for 20 minutes to get a breakfast. Get to the front of the cue to be told that they can't serve me unless I have a table. I say "I'm travelling alone how can I have a table and stand in the cue."
They say, "can't you leave your bag at the table?"
Brilliant. Fcuking idiots. So now I've got a loooooooong day ahead with no breakfast. :-( tw4ts!

Re: Airport food hall
What a bunch of cockbags!!
I'm going there in about a month or so, I won't be standing for that!! My bags are FIRMLY attached to me, so there is no chance I'm going to leave them at a table.
If it helps though, it's probably the safest place to leave your stuff.....
I'd had a long week travelling and working and was on my way back. Met a mate who was also out and about at Schiphol airport, so we got a coffee and a bite to eat. Nearly time for the flight, so I went for a quick p*ss and we set off on the treck across to passport control (out of Schengen agreement).
Got to the gate and put my bags down for screening, went to take my laptop rucksack off - errr....where is it?
You know that moment of complete fear. Where the life drains from your body, your heart stops for a second and you panic? Well, that.
Flight was in 20 minutes and the airport is MAA-HOOSIVE!! THINK GOAT, THINK!!!!!!
THE TOILETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RAN (not an easy feat for a fat bloke) like the wind back to the toilets only to be blocked by a massive Dutch bloke with a rather large gun.
"Stchop"
"I need to go to the toilet......"
"Nose, yoush cannot go inshide - there is a security containment in place, useh another"
"Err.....sounds serious, what is it?"
"There is an unidentified container - we are waiting for disposal"
"Yeah.....about that, not a laptop looking bag....quite large, ..... "
Guy looks at me NOT happy. He goes TITS after I describe my 'lost' bag.
Run in, get it and have it quickly examined and then ran ALL the way back to the gates and got my flight.
I was about 10 minutes of having my work laptop disposed of in a controlled explosion!!!! Awkward......
Never left it since.

Re: Airport food hall
PJ, I'm assuming from your location, that this would be East Midlands Airport? They're bloody crap at most things. Some years ago we were going to Minorca. At the time there was an England football match on in the bar. They'd turned off the loudspeakers of the announcement system in the bar so the punters enjoyment of the match wasn't interrupted and we had two hours before our flight was due to leave, so we had plenty of time to watch the second half. About 3/4 of an hour before our flight is due to embark I went to the toilets and was surprised to hear an announcement calling for me and the wife by name, to go to gate xx immediately. Rushed back , got the missus and headed to the gate. They'd bought the flight forward and had announced it over the (switched off) loudspeakers. They hadn't bothered to put it up on the departures board though, which still showed the departure time of the Minorca flight as it had been. When we got to the gate they said they'd been calling us by name for at least 20 minutes. I pointed out that the loudspeakers in the bar had been turned off and they said I should have looked at the departure notice. I asked them to look what time it said on the departure notice.
Fookin useless they are there. The words p**s up and brewery come to mind.

Re: Airport food hall
I think EMA is quite good John. At least you have space and seating adequate for the amount of people there.
There are some I can think of that do not. I've used Heathrow this and last week, T5 is nice. Luton parking sucks balls for finding you car. BHX is ok......gets too packed with Eastern European flights, but plenty to look at - I don't know how most of them dare leave the house in what they wearing.
Munich airport is nice. Dubai is scary with the security. I've been to most across Europe.
Fav has to be Sweden, purely for the search carried out by the 6ft blonde Swedish woman who was STUNNING!!!

Re: Airport food hall
My experience I described there was some years ago BG, Before they refurbished it into it's present form. I dropped my dad off there on Sunday morning at 1/4 to 3 . The car parking used to be free for 20 minutes to allow people to be dropped off/picked up. But now they charge £2.20p for the privilege. Tightwads.
Worst airport I've been to would be the Rhodes arrivals lounge. When we arrived, there were only two carousels (one out of order) had to wait almost 2 hours in 34deg heat at 3.30am for the cases from our flight to come through. Bloody pathetic. Worst departure was from Palma. We arrived at the airport 3 hrs before takeoff and the stupid trainee they had put on the check in was slower than a slug on diazepam. We checked in with less than ten minutes to go (and there was a queue behind us) Some people were actually left at the airport and Thomas Cook had to put on another flight for them.

Bremen airport is pretty good. I tend to fly in and out of Manchester, which has improved massively over the last year or so. I just wish they would fix the frikking epassport gates, they never ever work.
Flying though JFK, Chicago, Miami and Tampa in June, not a fan of any of them tbh.

Re: Airport food hall
Yeah it was ema. To be fair the airport isn't to bad at all. I think this was just one idiot working in one of the food halls.
It was a long day! I think I'll stop over next time. Ireland and back with a 5 hour meeting is a loooooong day!
