Firefox

Post by ayjay »

Is it safe to update Firefox yet?

A while back Firefox went on a mega updating drive with new versions scheduled every few weeks - I opted out of automatic updates because I knew that many of my add-ons would be incompatible with the successive new versions. I was already in the habit of not updating for a few weeks when new versions appeared.

I noticed today that I'm still on version 7.01 and it should now be about 22.

Anyone using the later versions? Are your add-ons being updated regularly to keep up with the new releases?
One day it will all be firewood.

I did go through a phase with Firefox where it had issues with AVG..all seems well now, though I only use it for......*some* sites....

I got fed up with FF updates & switched to Chrome. Still not perfect, or maybe it's my ancient computer.

When it comes to my PC I'm somewhat resistant to change when everything is working OK, based on the responses so far I'll stick with version 7.01 for now. :-)

Shitty XP? You probably thought it was the best OS ever invented in 2001.

I'd still be on 3.1 if I had my way!

Change can also be totally unnecessary - if it ain't broke why bugger it up?

I've got an origional copy of 98 somewhere, think I've got 95 SR2 as well. I'll see if I can get your 3.1 tomorrow while I'm in the office. If you fancy it, I might be able to get 3.11 (Windows for workgroups), don't want you cut off from the rest of your machines/world.

Nothing better than someone coming in and not being able to get on the internet. What's that you say, you've got a problem with your trumpet winsock?

I still have (some where) a pc that has windows 3.1 on it. I bring it out on the odd occasion as it can play the original space invaders

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I also got fed up with Firefox and switched to Chrome for its built in sync. But if I remember after a few of those FF updates, Mozilla unlocked the addon compatibility checks, so that even when one upgraded FF, the plugins would be assumed to work until proven otherwise :)

I use Chrome (if I'm not using IE), it does the job nicely - plus it ties into my phone account, so I can share sites between my phone/PC easily enough.

I've never had any problems with Firefox either, apart from updating it a couple of times before the add-ons had caught up but I've learned that lesson now.

What version are you on?
