uninatalling software

Post by sandstorm2 »

Hi, have been trying to uninstall a programme called webcake because I think it is screwing up my computer ,but all I get is a dialogue box, saying installation initiallisation error and it doesn't uninstall.

I am using the mozilla firefox browser, any help appreciated as I am a bit of an old technophobe.

how are you trying to in install ?
are you using add/remove programs or the short cut from the program itself

Click Start -> Control Panel -> Programs (or Add/Remove Programs) -> Uninstall a Program.
Here, look for WebCake and select 'Uninstall/Change'.
Click OK to save the changes.

HI mate webcake is a nasty malware program that is very hard to remove

I just looked up a few guides and I think this one is about the easiest to follow.

I would do step one of this guide from safe mode, then reboot and follow the rest of it (you might be able to get that webcake removed from safemode)
to enter safe mode shut down your pc totally....then power it up and start tapping the F8 key right away till the menu pops up select "safemode" and hit enter

Safe mode loads up the bare min that is needed to run your pc.

Hi Lee5768, thanks a million for your help, with the help you gave me I am now up and running again, wouldn't have been able to have done it myself.

will steer clear of these downloads in future as I really don't know what I am doing! came to computers late in life.
