Duplicate pictures

Post by Razor »

Hi guys,

After having many mobiles and tablets synced to my pc I notice that a lot of the information particularly pictures are duplicated in different folders, sometimes four or five times

Any ideas what's the best way to get a list of duplicates so I can delete the copies?

My missis has this with her iBone. Watch out when you come to clear them off though, I notice some of the pictures are lower resolution than what was taken originally.

I reckon it's a sort by hand thing, you can automate name searches and stuff, but I wouldn't trust most of them with personal pics - done that before.

Pah, lightweight!, just searched mine for jpg and got 40440.

...........and I lost a lot when I removed Picasa a few years ago, (didn't realise the originals were stored in there).
One day it will all be firewood.

When you uninstalled, they should have still been there - don't think it removes user data.

But still, that's a lot of dragon fly pictures.... :P

I looked at my server and got 4 million pictures. Those are just me modeling my various man pouches though, so nothing you want to see.

I just found this http://www.duplicate-finder.com/photo-download.html

Seems to work really well along the same lines as Goggle images. It's only found 364 duplicates though

Most of my photos are in the safe on disks and backed up on an exterenal 3TB drive

 I was kidding.....hence the man pouch joke -

I got a number of servers (one personal), but it's not that full :thumbright: Not sure I could ever get rid of it for an external drive - I quite often forget I have it, never needs touching and it's always there. Just how it should be.

For what its worth, often when I decide to have a clear out of old pictures, (on my pc, win xp) as I select which to delete, a new version of it appears under the whole list, with the same name and 1.
So for example, uhm, then when I select it uhm1 appears, its really annoying if you don't know its going to do it, but why it does it, I have no idea.
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
