Re: how did you find the forum
I joined almost 3 yrs ago. (recommended by another) and must admit, it's the friendliest forum I inhabit. Hardly ever a cross word on here and a joy to be a part of. (not many forums can say that) Chez, has something here to be bloody proud of.

i love this forum
you know you can come here have a sensible conversation
people will disagree but in a sensible manor
people have a laugh they let small things pass so you dont feel on guard all the time
people off course call here "niceland" but to be honest i am pleased we dont pander to the often funny but often over grumpy squad

well, I still will like someone to tell me how Chez and his Mods manage to get Dickie to be well behaved
I thought I will never see the day when he posts more than FIVE 'contributions' without being BANNED
I just need to know what ''drug(s)'' Chez & the Mods used on him

Worry not, he has been banned.kintangoman wrote:Alexbrown012 wrote:Web Search (Google)

But his answer is correct, since the question he replied to was "how did you find the forum"

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

shall we just say after a bit off toing and froing things settled down to mutual respectkintangoman wrote:big-all wrote:i love this forum

there was a lot off toing and froing with prams and dummies and cards off many colours at times other than birthdays and xmass
he is off course a vital and welcome part off the forum and we love him dearly in a macho way

Ok.
Now I understand the logic of his answer.
So his answer was correct (and I now agree with you). So how come he is banned for providing that answer?
Scruff & big all, I think Dickie is a gem any forum would love to have. I'm glad he managed to see the 'bright' side and decide to ditch his ways while using this forum
His tongue can be very 'bitter' if left unchecked
I'm glad you guys let him stay with us.

Re: how did you find the forum
Funnily enough I have had a similar experience with the same chap. I found this place via YouTube watching some video about how to fix something or other.wrinx wrote:Now there's a coincidenceBillyGoat wrote:I was an another one and had a very similar experience with a well known penis.wrinx wrote:Recommendation for me...
I was briefly on another DIY forum and some idiot, who's well known for it, was giving me a hard time. A kind soul dropped me a private message suggesting this place was much nicer...and it is

Re: how did you find the forum
I was briefly on another forum which there are 2-3 total spanners on who hijacked every thread with tit for tat nonsense. You couldn't debate or reason with these tools so I jumped over to here and must say it's better in every way. Better banter, more informative answers and information and a friendlier vibe. I know a few guys on here use the other forum too but it ain't for me. I'm also the proud owner of a UHM mug courtesy of the monthly competitions
Carpentry,I can explain it to you but I cannot understand it for you.

Re: how did you find the forum
old thread but as its a sticky I'll add my two cents in. I found it originally from it from UHM video and used to lurk long before I came a member. I was on other DIY forums but some pro's and DIYer's were just terrible.
I noticed more than once, condensing remarks and arrogance towards novices from pros. People seemed to forget the whole purpose of these forum was to aid understanding, not to tell people how inexperienced or thick they are. The guys and girls on UHM genuinely wanted to help
We could all join other forums where the pro is the novices and vice versa. I was on other maths, computer programming forums for years where I was the pro but the arrogance by the experienced people was a lot worse than some of the bad DIY forums me thinks. In any case you usually find out its some spotty nerd living with his mom at 35 and has a user name of "supreme ruler of the galaxy" who has text book knowledge and no working knowledge.
DIY especially is one area where working knowledge is invaluable as I have found out though trial and error. Make an error with a computer programme and it just won't work, drill though a pipe and you flood your house out (like me )
