Ugly yard made better....

Post by Chappy »

This week I have been working on this yard. Knackered old paving and a bloody great ugly oil tank right in view.
The lady was on a tight budget, but the slabs needed a better sub base as they were moving all over the place.
So, the yard as was.....

And now, with all the old slabs relayed on a 100mm compacted MOT sub base - had to replace just 8 slabs, so dotted them about to create a random colour scheme.

The oil tank hidden with some bamboo screening for £45, framed with some treated lath....

The customer is going to do the lath framing in cedar to match the fence, then when my grout joints are fully hardened she is going to pressure wash the old slabs with some patio cleaner to get it all sparkly !

Yes, although I quite like the different shades as it is.
When I lifted up the old patio, I found a manhole that had been slabbed over!
The homeowner had no idea it was there......and no, I haven't slabbed back over it, its just out of shot! Unbelievable what some people will do.

Nicely done Chappy I wouldn't go jet/power washing that though....you'll only remove the newly done pointing..

Just get some Jeyes patio/path cleaner and a stiff brush...... :thumbleft:

Okey Dokey, thanks. The customer is going to do it, so I'll pass that on, cheers.
