Not a clue on your area and it depends on the tiles, where they can be cut etc etc.

Best bet would be to go for 3 quotes, locally.

That would be a start price on ceramic, then. So in theory he would be starting stone at around £40 if he can cut near to the room he is working in.

Last big house he did beside us included some stone and it was done at the same rate. To be fair it's impossible to price a job without looking at it first and yes stone would normally be a fair bit dearer to lay which I should've mentioned in the first reply :salute:

I change £20-£25 sq meter for ceramics.

For stone minium of £40 sq meter all depending on cutting and prep work of walls and floor but as Steve said you really need to see a job to price it

Hi guys
Thanks for that, Yea I fully understand you have to see the job but I'm just looking for basic starting points.
Spoke to a couple of pals and some tillers they know of tend to do kitchens on day rate £130 per day due to the amount of cuts they have to do.
How do these rates from pro tiling stand up to rest of you guys

I can't follow the link without pasting it, so haven't bothered.

You will often find that 'price' rates are more suited to site work. Where as domestic work will be done on an individual basis that factors in certain things.

You will never get 4M2 of tiling done for £100, for example. It would be charged at a days money.

Convenience as you gestured, also comes into it. If I can shut the bathroom door and use an angle grinder it will be cheaper than going downstairs and into your back garden.

I have had jobs with large format porcelain tiles and no trims where at least a days labour has been needed to walk outside and cut each tile. 90No 600X600 and only 13 full ones!

Those prices are a good average to work from and more importantly, realistic! You'll get prices which are higher, you'll also get prices a lot lower, however the lower prices will either be a crap 'tiler' or a very good tiler short of work. But safe to say if you work on those figures given then you won't go far wrong. Assuming it's not a little splash back job.

disclaimer: ignore the prices for 9 and 12mm ply as it is not a good choice and a decent tiler would know that and suggest other products if you need to go that thin
