Downstairs Cloakroom - More plumbing

Post by mcluma »

Seeing how much we all like plumbing, I thought I show you my journey in getting the downstairs cloakroom ready for tiling

Although the tiling has to wait until I have the stairs done, so I will just get all the plumbing done, and we can use it in the meantime, as it’s our only cloakroom on the ground floor

I recently ripped everything out, to make it ready for the new suite, I leave the current tiling as it’s the correct height and it’s solid on a concrete floor, so it will be a perfect base to tile over

My wife has choosing this fancy egg style WC with a pod as basin. As you can see its round – and it has to fit into a corner – on top of it all – access to all the plumbing is bad. – later I will make an oak planchette to fit in the corner

I have fitted the tap and waste trap, and to make life a bit easier I use these flexible tap connecters

I have placed in the corner 2 wall plates which will take the shut-off valves

Here the shut-off valves – this type have a self sealing ring, so actually no PTFE tape is needed, but I still do it, as well as a bit of flexible PTFE – just to make sure it doesn’t leak

Next up is the wc.

Unfortunately it doesn’t fit, at the back of the pan there is a bar, which sits directly over the waste pipe, so that has to come out – nothing is simple in life

Here the hole in the ground

I like the job on the loo. What did you cut it with? A diamond blade on the angle grinder?
