Anything coming your way?

Post by ayjay »

..........I asked my wife as I drove out of a gateway this morning, (in effect turning right at a T junction) I was facing the way I was going but at a 45° angle to the road, I can't see to the right because of bushes and angles etc. as I'm inching forward I can now start to see more to the left and see a car in that direction about 200 yards away - "No" she pipes up "nothing coming" I pulled out further until I could see better to the right, eventually all the way, and said "didn't you see that car that's now behind us?" (still a good 50 yards away).

"I couldn't really see very well that way" she said "so I looked the other way instead"! ::b ::b

She then completely failed to comprehend the implications in the difference between "your way" and "my way", even when I explained that on another occasion if I'd trusted what she said we could both be killed - or worse.

She does have a driving licence and drives regularly, but she just doesn't get it. :wtf:
One day it will all be firewood.

Mrs. Inky has a habit of leaning forward to look her way at junctions which completely blocks any view I may have.

This would be fine, if only she would tell me what she can see! ::b ::b ::b

There's a junction near me that's not quite at 90 degrees to the main road (more like 70 degrees) When I want to pull out of it (turning right) I can see perfectly to my right, and usually ask the missus if there's anything coming "her way" Quickly look to the left and she's lean't forward looking right. FFS why can't she understand clear instructions?
I was parked at the side of the road (right hand side as I'd go forward) Another car had parked in front of me and I wanted to set off. Asked her to look if anything's coming. and there she is leaning forward to look in the bloody wing mirror (which I could already see) Grrrrrrr (cue yet another argument and serious episode of passenger rage by me)

i am about to set off with the missus on a trip. she picks up the road map (I hate daft navs and dumb dumb,s. They constantly send cars into rivers  ) and informs me she will direct me. I said now way?

this is the issue though. I tell her where we are going, then show her at least TWO roads before the road we have to turn into. I tell her that once we get closer, she should inform me that I will be taking the third road on the left further down the road.

Next thing you know, she tells me: ''oh, I think you've just gone past it''.

So I never allow her to direct me anywhere. I check my route before we leave and make out notes on an A4 paper which I use as a guide.

Just a guess - I'll bet if the MAN is the passenger he'll look and say "all clear" without even being asked! I know I do.

I no longer ask my wife ANYTHING as she constantly reminds me she knows Fn everything. :boxing:

I may even have to put up a Billy Connolly style sign outside the house "encyclopedia britannica for sale, no longer required, as the wife knows everything"

My Mrs does that too.

Or my personal best

Her: Turn right up ahead
Me: Ok, starts moving lanes to turn right
Her: What the hell are you doing, I said turn right
Me: I am turning right
Her: Oops, the other one then...

Well I think I have a one a million
Mrs canny is excellent at map reading although I must confess she does have that habit of leaning forward when I am trying to see what's coming lol
