things in life to keep me happy

Post by Cannyfixit »

I dont ask for much in life but what i do enjoy is a nice toasted sandwich
I asked Mrs Canny to pick up a new sandwich toaster a few months back but the darn thing isn't big enough to take a slice of Warburton's bread
the original one i bought was from the local pound shops and worked a treat until its demise.
So armed with 2 pieces of my favourite bread I have been out mooching around the local electrical sheds none of the main stream manufactures have got no idea when it comes to designing these machines
The sales assistants gave me some funny looks placing the bread into the toasters only to find a good 15mm of the slice hangs out of the side

so can anyone recommend a machine that will accommodate full size bread and is deep enough to keep the filling sealed in place

Have you thought about a pannini maker which pivots ? I know it won't keep the filling on, but you could use any size of bread !

In the mean time use an old frying pan or cast iron pan and weigh the sandwich down with a brick wrapped in foil, like Nigella !

Just a suggestion....

I'd noticed the same.. if you buy the smaller 400G loaves they fit the sandwich toasters, the 800G loaves are just too big...

This could be worth a look, several of the customer reviews and comments noting the bread slices need to be larger than standard! http://www.tesco.com/direct/waring-wosm ... d=428-8968

I noticed in the Argos Catalogue, there was a Warring.....link below....

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... 235486.htm

Deep fill and adjustable, this brand is normally a commercial one, but like Dualit, they are reaching out to Joe Public.

Good reviews too....take a look !
