Wickes delivery charge

We used to have a Wickes in Blackburn, but unfortunately it closed down when B&Q opened a branch nearby.

Razor recommended a wet and dry vacuum to me and I just checked and they now had it in stock, I noticed that they did free delivery on orders over £50

I ordered the Vacuum and also 1 bag of multi-finish plaster and a tub of Wickes bond it (similar to PVA), the total order was not much at just over £60 but I was shocked when I discovered that because I had ordered a bag of multi-finish and a tub of wickes Bonding agent they wanted £25 for next day delivery or £30 for Saturday delivery


Obviously I’ll now be getting a vacuum from ebay and the plaster and bonding agent from B&Q

Yes, I think they are classed as heavy, so require a different delivery method......a large truck with fork lift........

Why not order the vacuum and some silicone and you will qualify for free postage !

Might just do that

TP openly rip Joe public off, you have to open an account with them and then you sign up for "Trademate", which then gives you a set discount- which in most cases is still more expensive than B&Q or Wickes

And TP now own toolstation....

TP recently quoted me £150 for 3 tonnes of sharp sand...Jewsons quoted £120 delivered walking in off the street....

Going to give the local quarries a phone on monday
see what they want...take the old mans tonne rated pickup down and get them to fill one of the many tonne bags he has hoarded away (though someone I spoke to reckons at least one has tonne bags sitting filled.....progress...)

I had a 1100x700 double radiator delivered by local wickes last week, qualified for free delivery, reckon its heavier than UHM order

Delivery offers vary widely where I am - from totally free (for 10 rolls of loft insulation) to £300 for a 3-piece suite

Wickes is cack these days.

They seemed a bit pissed off when I refused delivery of a pallet load of plasterboard that had obviously been left out all night in the pouring rain and the gypsum was practically running out the gaps in the pallet. I'd paid extra for a Saturday deliver as well, proper narked off.

Jewsons seem to be much better, and at a push BnQ

I cant fault buildbase for big stuff, they are fair price wise and always deliver when they say they will. The stuff also doesn't look like it has been kicked down the street when it arrives.

By far my best supplier is toolstation. I can order something at 3pm and it will be on my doorstep by lunchtime the next day, free delivery and well packaged. I don't think they have ever been out of stock on anything I have needed either.
