A new Channel 5 show is looking for examples of disaster DIY

Hi there everyone! Hope you're all well. My name's Jen and I'm a researcher for Channel 5; currently working on putting together a show to celebrate plucky brits who've had DIY go a bit off-piste! I hope you don't mind my posting on your forum - I just thought there might be some great stories and fantastic potential contributors that might like to take part. :)

Is your DIY always a disaster?

If so, we’d like to hear about it. We’re making a light hearted new TV Series for Channel Five and we’re looking for spirited people to take part - people with a great sense of humour who are not afraid to reveal the DIY horrors they live with every day!

DIY is never easy – even the most dedicated DIYer can wind up with more work than there was in the beginning! So, if you have a hilarious story about a DIY project that’s gone wrong, get in touch and if your story makes it into the series, we’ll pay you for your trouble.

We’re interested in projects big and small – whether it’s faulty flat packs, doors that don’t fit or heaven forbid, more enthusiasm than skill, we’d love to hear from you. Or maybe you have taken on your own loft conversion or even a whole house renovation which is currently looking more ‘bomb site’ than ‘pride and joy’, then we’re offering the chance to appear on a warm hearted programme that doesn’t take itself too seriously and at the very least will help others avoid the same pitfalls.

DIY seems to be very popular among TV producers at the moment and every few weeks we get posts in the forum asking for people to get in touch to be considered for a TV program, some companies even email first to ask for permission.

To make things clear and to avoid any confusion here is the forum’s stance on TV programs-

You cannot post in the forum asking for participants in any way shape or form from now on, anyone posting such posts will be banned.
TV companies get paid for making programs and have a budget. I am sure that every time you advertise in a newspaper you have to pay for the advert, so asking to post in a forum that is free and is there to benefit people for free when you are being paid is just not right.
I don’t care which TV Company you are either, this is a blanket ban on all such posts.
