It certainly boils my urine where we have 60 limits on the main roads in my area (with very limited overtaking opportunities) that plenty of old codgers still drive at 35 - 40, they do that speed everywhere - even when it changes down to 40 and then 30.

Sooooooo true...

This old codger floored it past a car Thurs night, doing 30 in a 50, closely followed by two cop cars.

3) The posted speed limit signs are just that, the LIMIT, they don't mean that you must drive at that speed.
I failed my driving test at the first attempt " failure to make correct use of the forward gears" (or something like that),
I too failed my first driving test "Failing to make proper progress" was the term used Driving instructor said that's simply not keeping near the speed limit. Other one was "Incorrect use of brakes and gears" DI took me back along the same route and told me on the uphill approach to a roundabout, I'd changed from 4th down to 3rd gear without touching the brakes (he'd obviously spoken with the driving examiner) I asked him what he would do, going uphill and he agreed it would be silly to actually brake, but said I should have just rested my foot lightly on the brake pedal. Personally I thought the examiner was a bit harsh on that point, but anyway, I banged in for another test shortly afterwards and passed (with the same examiner)

Good point JJ. Who on earth drives as they did on their driving test once they have passed? It's high time they made the driving test reflect driving (sensibly) in the 'real world'.

In London, no one drives, you aim your car and go
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

400 series highways in Canada (akin to a motorway here) posted limit 100Km/h, average speed 130km/h...for HGVs.....:wtf: resulted in the govt having to mandate speed limiters to stop them blasting past cars themselves above the limit....trust me getting passed by something about 1.5 times as big as a uk truck is a slightly hair raising experience...especially when you look down and realise your going way above the limit yourself trying to keep pace with traffic....
