Hi, I hope this is the right forum for this question, I suppose it could equally be posted under Plumbing.
I'm in the middle of replacing a shower unit, however before I finish tanking the shower area prior to tiling I could use some advice about the protruding shower pipes. As you can see the pipes are hanging down rather than being perpendicular to the wall (which is how I've seen them for other showers). Although there's a large piece cut out in the plasterboard (I got someone in to re-board and skim the shower area), I'm concerned how the plumber will fit the shower with the pipes as they are. I suspect I may have to cut out another chunk higher up so I can bring the pipes out. However my lack of experience could mean I'm missing something obvious, and in fact there could be no problem at all.
Any advice or suggestions would be gratefully received.
Cris

What sort of shower are you fitting? You just need a couple of elbows and bring the pipes through the wall. For a bar mixer they are on 150mm centres and these days I use the easy fit kits. Similar to these http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p68003

Re: Tiling around shower pipe entries
It's a thermostatic dual mixer shower, and looking at the installation guide (which I probably should have done earlier) it requires 150mm centres. It's useful to know about the elbows and easy fit kits. I'll have a word with the plumber who's going to install the shower, and get him to come down to sort it out before I start tiling. I'd hate to make a basic error and have to rip out my tiles just for the sake of saving a few quid.
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply, it's much appreciated!

Re: Tiling around shower pipe entries
150mm centres on most showers as already said, you will need an elbow and a section of pipe protruding from the wall. The protruding pipes will need to be straight and level with each other at about nipple height (that's where I normally put the bar) you will need a female 3/4 fitting on each pipe and they need to be protruding from the wall at the right amount taking into account your tiles and adhesive. The pipes need to be fixed well to the wall behind so the weight of the bar doesn't pull the pipes through the hole in the tiles causing the bar to sag and creating a hole round the feed pipes letting water behind
