i have also noticed you seem to have levers to release the legs on the older ones you push the ball bearing into the hole to release

Yes, it's a very simple lever mechanism- very easy to use

ahh aye it does. still has the ball bearing things that locate the legs though. mine i just have to push the ball bearing in to release the legs. mine also has knobs that lock the sliding extension arms in place. that one has levers.
