Sorry Wes, I'm just so confused now

I read the destructions and didn't really see anything about diluting, so I went with the one that seemed most like what I was doing.....seems I'm completely wrong Just another cockup in the BG household.

So you say I just need to 1:4 with water and then paint it on? How long till I use SLC - straight away or when the SBR has dried? Talk to me like an idiot (save the dirty stuff for PM).

Floor looks dry, it's almost 24 hours since it was done now.

I have SBR with no idea what I'm meant to be doing.

I've got 2 more buckets of no-nonsense SLC ready for some slippy slidy action.

Guide me o wise Wes.

No you're ok BG. The mixing sharp sand section 'toppings & flooring') is for a minimum screed depth of 12 mm.

Sorry Wes, I think the SBR or primer bit has just flummoxed me.

So its not for adhesion or anything, its just for anti-suction. Understand now.

I'm going to mix it up later, paint on and SLC in't morning - job done.

I just got confused over SBR and why I'm being told to use it now.

Wow...Looks like cement, sand and water as a primer

I'd be tempted to dilute 1:4...Applying your two coats. Mix your primer, pour in section on the floor and brush one way with a soft long handled brush. Allow a few hours and apply a second coat. Second coat do the same but brush in the other direction. On your second coat blind off (Sprinkle sand across when it's wet) if you want (Like you're feeding the chickens ). This is to add a key for the slc. Then when completely dry, sweep and vacuum. Alternatively, get hold of a proper floor primer like Ardex P51 or Mapei Primer T. For your type of job with a basic overlay floor covering you shouldn't have to blind off IMO..

Then when dry, throw that dodgy looking no nonsense slc over the top

It's for both adhesion and suction. A good primer is essential as if that fails, it obviously all does...Don't worry about the tacky concept, especially if you're blinding it...

I thought I'd finally seen the light - turns out it was just a train coming my way!

I don't have no stinkin' primer - I thought it was suggested that the SBR was in actual fact the primer. Never before has someone been so confused (unless you count the time I was sat in a round room and told to sit in the corner).

If I were to say, just stick some of this SBR down, in a 1:4 mix, wait until it dried and then throw my SLC on the floor......is the world going to turn backwards?

I'm quite partial to a bit of 'feeding the chickens' when I'm out in a club and the right music is playing, but not I'm following anything anymore.

As you are going over fresh SLC i'd say mix up 1 part SBR to 3 parts water, brush/roller this on to the floor then let it either dry, or almost dry, then crack on with your final coat of SLC.

SBR is used to control suction AND promote adhesion. I could get all technical on your ass but lets just say it works

I think Wes was trying to trick me into inviting him around to sort it out. I've told him before though that the restraining order is until March - even then I might extend it.

Yes, you're using the sbr as a primer...IMO it's not a proper floor primer but will do the job...By diluting it, it'll soak into the porous surface of your original slc and seal it. In other words stopping the original slc from sucking the moisture out of your new slc too quickly making it hard to work with creating a shitty and flawed job. The key is to dilute it. It'll also give adhesion to the new slc..

It's very likely that you'll be fine with just applying the diluted sbr without blinding it, but I have heard of some people being sent to jail for 30 years for doing so...While in jail the said cons where treated to a very warm stay with a gent called Leroy..
