screwfix saturday delivery

Post by ultimatehandyman »

Screwfix Saturday delivery.

Yesterday (Friday) I ordered a Bosch PMF-180E from screwfix direct and also bought a couple of pairs of rigger gloves. The order total was over £100 and so it qualified for free Saturday delivery.

I was working a night shift last night and so I arranged for it to be delivered to my girlfriends address. Acquiring a Bosch PMF-180E has been a total nightmare and I have been to several tool shops and 2 B&Q stores to try and get one.

Screwfix sell the Bosch PMF-180E at £99.00 which is almost 50% more expensive than other online retailers, but as I was stuck and needed the saw today to finish off a job I did not mind paying the hugely inflated price. I arrived at my girlfriends house at about 3pm today and no sign of the delivery from screwfix! At 15:50pm I telephoned screwfix to ask what the latest delivery time is for Saturday as we wanted to go out, because my girlfriend has wasted a full day waiting in for the delivery.

When I logged into my screwfix account and checked the tracking for the parcel, it said that delivery had been attempted at 11:41, which is absolute nonsense. I explained all this to the guy on the phone and he was helpful and said he would track the parcel and that the cut of time for Saturday delivery is 16:30. Obviously I was not at all happy about this as it said on the screwfix website that if I ordered before 6pm I would get Saturday delivery and when I mentioned this to the guy, he said that “ it is not guaranteed”. I said that it should not say that it will be delivered on Saturday ! He said he would chase it up and get them to deliver it on Monday and so I asked him to cancel the order and when he tracks the parcel to ask the couriers to return it to screwfix as it is no use to me on Monday as I will be back at work.

I realise that it is not 100% screwfix’s fault and that it is the couriers (parcelforce) fault, but screwfix use parcelforce and they are obviously incompetent. When you go to parcelforce web site it says in their terms and conditions that if you are out they may deliver to a neighbours house and leave a card. Why they have lied and said that they have tried to deliver it has really made me mad. Perhaps parcelforce do this all the time and so people will think that perhaps they never heard the door or were upstairs at the time!

Screwfix really need to find a better courier, using a firm that cannot deliver and then lies about trying to deliver is ultimately going to hurt their business. Screwfix probably won’t be bothered as they can claim 100% of the cost of postage back from parcelforce as they did not deliver it, but eventually people will go elsewhere. Kingfisher seem to be out of touch with reality. I don’t know how much they pay the people in B&Q but yesterday I went in the tool department and asked the guy that works in that department about the bosch multi purpose saw/sander and I told him that it was similar to a Fein multi master and he did not have a clue what I was going on about.

I have often purchased items from screwfix in the past, but now I am reluctant to do so ever again as I am so mad that my girlfriend has wasted her day off work!

Had very simmilar in the past Chez, dont bother useing them now, I just have a shop around price wise, order at the shop counter, then pick when in.
Nobody will take any blame for the lack of delivery, it's always the others fault :angryfire:

Couriers can be lying sods, if they want to finish early, they just write unable to deiver on the ticket, but leave it in the van.

Some now have to note a landmark in cases like that. For example, 'brick hose with bright pink front door' If it doesnt match, you can then give them some verbal!

I had aggro with courier this week, ordered a bargain MP3 player for use with Napster for a third of its price, buts thats another item! As I was working at customers asked for delivery to different address, which I had to email from phone what a pain, then kept getting told next day etc etc, kept phoning and got told they had tried to deliver with nobody in - my reply was "b*llox I have been working there and the customers was in and no power tools were used and bell was in working order and where are your missed delivery cards that are supposed to post through the door?"

It turned up 2 hours later - they could not be bothered as they would get so far through day delivering and then concentrate on their more lucrative picks ups from local company's - gits

After phoning Screwfix on Saturday and telling them that I did not want it delivering under any circumstances they tried to deliver it yesterday, I just phoned screwfix again and they told parcelforce to return it to them, but it seems that parcelforce cannot follow simple instructions ::b

The people at screwfix have always helpful and polite on the phone, it is a shame that they are let down by the couriers

He loved it - the house was spotless when he got home. I actually cleaned all day whilst waiting. I pretended to be mad at waiting in so I made him buy my dinner ha ha. Would have stopped in all day anyway - town is too busy for shopping at the minute!
