light switch pull cord

Post by matty »

Today the string broke on my bathroom light switch pull cord. I've taken the 'rose' off and nothing is broken underneath, its just the string that's worn out.
Can anyone tell me how to re-string the switch?

There's a little acorn shaped thing near the top of the string, above where it's broken. It has two halves that unscrew. Unscrew them and You'll see that the string is knotted inside. Just replace and tie a knot in it to stop it pulling through the hole.

You can get nylon chord from the curtain area in a diy shed.

They tend to get brittle from the slight heat from the cable and break right at the top, don;'t they?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
