MDF Bookcases - First go at a largish DIY project

Post by Pikman »

I'm happy, turned out as I hoped it would really!

Got some good advice from some individuals on here which set me off on the right track.

Just made it up after seeing similar shelves with cubes. I drew it in CAD first where I could tweak the spacing until it looked right and fit under the support beam (where it gets lower) and that was about it :)

Did you dowel joint in the end? Looks good to me but looking closely at the picture I cannot see your porn stash

I didn't dowel, no. They all had a 5.5mm rout (never could decide if 5 or 6 was best!).
Every other is screwed together and the holes are CSK into the routs. All other shelves are slotted in, all fixings nicely hidden :)

I built this section as one (which was mentally heavy!) and then just added as I went :)

Also: we only have a few 78's for the grammophone, this holds them no problem!

Pure excellence, have to make something like this in the near future when time, money and health allow it.

It looks fantastic though, well done.
