Screwfix Love it or hate it

Post by Duck_Tape »

Screwfix I love you in this order

The returns policy
local stores
On line purchases
The vast range of products
Printed Catalogue

Screwfix I hate you in this order
A lot of what you sell is absolute crap
Defective right out the box
Poor quality
Badly manufactured

My first point on why I buy from you
helps off-set the bad

Anyone else want to chip in and add an opinion

I should add
When I say they sell a lot of poor quality products
I am not meaning the well known brands of power tools
or the like
Or even the No Nonsense range
More the generic ironmonger fittings
and power tool accessories

They used to be cheaper for a lot of things but prices have been creeping up slowly

Now days only buy my screws from them

Screwfix are the Asda of the tool/hardware market. 'Apparently' cheap but items are often found elesewhere at much lower prices. You can see the trend - make yourself the 'one stop shop' for all DIY/Pro needs then, when you've caught a significant proportion of the market, jack your prices up and gouge the public.

Once to be admired, now to be bodyswerved (if you can).
Don't take it personally......

If I need it there and then and there isn't a local DIY/Merchant en route for me to try first then I'll go there. Otherwise it's a local merchant or for power tools I've used FFX recently for three items and very impressed with the service and price

I hate their badly maintained links, which seem to happen so frequently!

I don't do those sort of establishments or DIY sheds unless I have no alternative choice.

However, prior planning prevents pi55 poor retail outlets! 99.9 times out of 100. For that .1 of a time I relish being stuck in a queue of foreigners.

Errrrrrr.......No, I know they are both part of the same company... I prefer the service in S/fix to the Tradepoint counter..

I have a builders merchant locally...prices/discount seem to vary depending on who serves you/whether they are in a good mood/what they had for breakfast......

At least I know what I'm paying at Sfix/B&Q..
