There was a joiner coming to do this.....but he got a big job elsewhere and let us down so either I do it today or my plumber (who squeezed me in as a favour) will not be able to come to move my boiler tomorrow.
I didn't think it was too much of an issue but I'm having a slight panic now as I can't quite get my head around the different dimensions that are needed. (See pics, top and bottom of soil pipe)
I intend putting in an extra stud at both sides level with the soil pipe and plasterboarding the walls first.
The plumber needs a frame built that finishes 120mm out from the plasterboarded wall so the boiler which is to be hung on it, is in the right place for the flue. (I really didn't want to move the flue and have yet another hole cut into my external wall.) The flue will be getting removed and will bend downwards at the first elbow (ish) into the boiler.
This 120mm measurement lands just slightly over halfway on the soil pipe so I can't frame over the soil pipe too as it would take the frame out too far. I could box the soil pipe in separately (I think) and the frame for the boiler can be next to it (the boiler needs a 10cm clearance either side anyway so that's ok) but if I did that.....how do I deal with the bottom of the soil pipe where the hot and cold water pipes bend out. The boiler frame would have to be 120mm from the plasterboarded wall at the top and much more at the bottom to accomodate the pipes.
Also, the soil pipe and the flue are touching so there isn't space to get plasterboard in (unless I can move one of them just enough to force a sheet in. If I can't, how do I get around that other than moving the flue elsewhere?
Does any of that make sense? It's maybe simple enough but I'm having a mental block here.
If anyone has any suggestions, please spell them out clearly as I'm just not likely to 'get it' over this one, lol.
Ps sorry for the size of the pictures, I'm not sure how to make them any smaller.
Having a slight panic - supposed to box this in for tomorrow
